When Daisy first created this show, entertainment companies told her it would never sell. Wedding planner Carin Hunt immediately recognized its fit for elegant beach wedding entertainment and introduced it to Islamorada vendors. Today, Bellynesian remains Daisy’s most requested performance for beach weddings and corporate events across South Florida and The Florida Keys.
As an American-born dancer, she embraces her Western lens, while also seeking training from Hawaiian and Egyptian instructors to honor the roots of the dances she loves. Over time, she naturally developed her own Bellynesian style—different from the way many other dancers perform it, yet equally beautiful in its own way.
Her interpretation
As an American-born dancer, she embraces her Western lens, while also seeking training from Hawaiian and Egyptian instructors to honor the roots of the dances she loves. Over time, she naturally developed her own Bellynesian style—different from the way many other dancers perform it, yet equally beautiful in its own way.
Her interpretation blends the storytelling of Hawaiian hula with the fluidity of bellydance. She dances to Polynesian drums and modern island songs with English lyrics, weaving narratives through movement. She incorporates bellydance undulations and snake-like motions—a nod to her favorite animal—adding textures that aren’t traditionally part of Polynesian dance, though they are now becoming more common in contemporary Tahitian styles.
Bellynesian, for Daisy, isn’t just a fusion—it’s a personal journey, a bridge between heritage, inspiration, and the freedom to create something new.
